Format and Prerequisite: Four Day Basic MBTIŽ Qualifying Program

The MBTI four-day qualifying program is designed with no prework required other than completing  two online instruments and having a friend complete a MBTIŽ instrument for you to use during training.   However, participants should expect 3-5 hours of homework each night.  The program notebook and our online study tool are available as soon as you register for the program.

Target Audience: Anyone who works in the field of fostering personal relationships, team building, leadership and organization development, pastors and educational administrators, as well as counselors and social workers.

Course Outline:

 

Day One

  • Introduction
  • Framing - Purpose, Requirements
  • Overview of Jung's Theory - Provides a general description of the functions-in-attitude and the preferences
  • Determining the Type Dynamic Pattern from a Type Code

 Day Two

  • Review material covered on day one
  • Development and Construction of the MBTIŽ instrument
    • How the instrument has changed over time
    • Major considerations regarding item development
    • Reliability testing procedures and their results
    • Validity testing procedures and their results
  • Strengths and weaknesses to consider when using the instrument

Day Three

  • Review material covered on day two
  • Administering the MBTIŽ instrument - contracting, scoring, report options, and instructions to give to the clients
  • Interpretation of MBTIŽ instrument results - Discussions regarding how to conduct group and individual session, ethical considerations, and exercises that aid in facilitating sessions
  • Determining "Best-fit" Type - Discuss the process, examine supportive resources
  • Practice conducting a feedback interpretation session.

Day Four

  • Review material covered on day three
  • Complete the objective exam
  • Complete the interpretative exam
  • Application exercises and discussion
  • Wrap up

Pre-work: 

  • Complete on-line Exploring YouŽ  prior to program start date 
  • Complete on-line MBTIŽ Form Q prior to program start date.
  • Have a friend complete MBTIŽ Form M in pencil (for you to use to score and practice conducting feedback)

Our Professional Qualifying Program is designed to give you a richer understanding of the MBTIŽ instrument and to provide you with greater knowledge for the successful use of this invaluable tool. 

The prework is offered in both online and notebook formats, with the notebook being shipped six weeks prior to the training start date. If registering less than six weeks prior to program start date, prework will be sent out immediately upon receiving the registration; you will receive a set of Clock Cards and our Dynamic Type Table as a bonus!  These training tools are used during our workshop and will help you facilitate your training after the program!

Agenda

Day One:

  • Introduction
  • Framing - Purpose, Requirements and Agenda
  • Theory Overview - General Description of Jung's Attitudes and Functions
  • Dynamic Model Building - Moving from a Type Code to a Dynamic Model
  • Development and Construction - History, Timeline, Major Issues and Modifications
  • Psychometrics - Item Construction, Basic Statistics, Reliability and Validity

  Day Two:

  • Review 
  • Administration - Contracting, Instructions to Clients, Scoring and Report Options
  • Interpretation - Demonstrate group feedback while presenting basic theoretical concepts in a holistic manner
  • Determining "Best-Fit" Type
  • Application Exercise
  • Exam

Our Tools and Techniques Application Workshop follows promising to enhance your use of the MBTIŽ instrument.  Check back for a complete agenda!

Cancellation and Substitution Policy
Full payment by cash, check, money order, or credit card (MasterCard, Visa, Discover) is needed to confirm your registration. Company or government purchase orders will be accepted. Your registration will not be guaranteed unless payment or prior arrangements have been made within the time guidelines for each program.
If you are unable to attend a program, please notify our department at 440-826-2253 to cancel, transfer or make a substitution.
Substitutions can be made at any time prior to the start of the program.
Cancellations received 30 days prior to the start date of the program will be refunded the full seminar fee. Cancellations and Transfer registrations made less than 30 days will be charged a $150 fee. No refund will be issued once the program has begun.

Qualifying Programs offer contact hours for continuing professional education requirement for renewal of counselor licenses and social work licenses and are also approved for HRCI credit.
