When will I find out about where I am living?
Student room assignments for first year and transfer students will be mailed to home addresses over the summer after assignments are made.
Can I see my room before moving in?
Many of our rooms are used during the summer for conferences; therefore, rooms are not available for viewing or measuring prior to check in. The Admissions Office does include a "show room" visit during campus tours.
How much does my room cost?
The residence hall rates for the entire 2008-2009 academic year (both fall and spring semesters combined) are as follows:
- single $4,720
- double $3,776
- triple $3,398
- quad $3,210
The following buildings/rooms have an additional cost of $150 for either air conditioning or private bathroom facilities: 21 Beech, Bagley, Carmel, Ernsthausen, Findley, and 310 Lang

How do I receive mail?
U.S. and Campus mail is delivered directly to your mailbox in your residence hall. For a list of mailing addresses, please click here.
Is my room air-conditioned?
21 Beech, Bagley Hall, Carmel Living Learning Center, Ernsthausen Hall and Findley Hall are air-conditioned. Arrangements for medical AC are made through the Office of Disability Services. More information can be found by visiting this page.
Are all the halls co-ed?
Yes, all halls are co-ed to different extents. Some are co-ed by floor (only males or only females live on the floor) and others are co-ed by room (only men or only women live in each room, but each room on the floor could be a different gender). Floors that are co-ed by room have seperate bathroom facilities for each gender.
How long are the beds? What size sheets will I need?
All the beds in the residence halls are twin beds. North Hall has 76 inch beds, the rest are 80 inches long. We recommend that resident students in halls other than North Hall bring extra long (81") twin bed sheets to campus. These extra-long sheets are available at most retail stores.
Does my room come with window treatments?
All windows come with horizontal blinds. Sizes vary so if you want to purchase additional treatments you must wait until you move and measure the exact size. There are many retailers within minutes of campus.
What type of furniture is in my room?
All rooms come with a bed, desk, shared dresser, a closet, and in some cases a freestanding wardrobe.
Are lofts allowed?
Huskie lofts (commercially provided) and student provided lofts are indeed allowed in most residences. Lofts are not permitted in the Carmel Living Learning Center, Ernsthausen Hall or Heritage 3E because these areas have loftable furniture.

Are pets allowed?
Pets are not permitted in the residence halls with the exception of small fish in a 20 gallon or smaller aquarium.
What can be done if I think I don't like my room assignment?
We regret that we are unable to accept requests for change of assignment once assignments are mailed out. We do make a change process available to students after the second week of classes each semester.
When do the residence halls open in the fall?
This information will be made available when finalized, and will depend upon orientation dates.
Staff will be available to assist you with move in during specific times times. Some students may be required to arrive at a date/time different than those listed above due to athletic team practices or other approved reasons. Follow the instructions of the appropriate coach or advisor who contacts you in the event you are required to move in early. For more information visit the Orientation Web site.
Can freshmen have cars on campus?
First-year residential students are permitted to have cars on campus.
Can I bring my bike and where can it be stored?
Bikes are permitted on campus. Bikes are required to be parked outside at the bike racks provided. We encourage students to use sturdy bike locks that secure the frame as well as any detachable wheels.
How often are rooms cleaned?
Students are responsible for cleaning their own rooms. Custodial staff are responsible for cleaning the public areas (hallways, lounges, etc.) and public restrooms. Students with bathroom facilities in their individual rooms or suites are responsible for cleaning their own bathrooms on a regular basis with their own cleaning supplies.
