July 6 - July 10, 2009 (9:00 am - 5:00 pm) or July 13 - July 17, 2009 (9:00 am - 5:00 pm)

The Digital Darkroom workshop will introduce the most current cutting-edge digital techniques used in photo imaging. The program will provide a hands-on approach in exploring digital photography as an art medium. Students will learn to use their digital camera, computers, wide format color printers, scanners and software to manipulate their photographic images. A team from the art department and local photographers will conduct the workshop. Students must be able to provide their own digital camera and have basic photography experience. B-W provides all supplies including computer disks, printouts etc. Several photo shoot field trips (i.e. Cleveland Metro Park Zoo and the Mansfield Reformatory) are also included. As a result of previous feedback, more field trips and a greater variety of locations have been added to the class schedule.
Major topics to be addressed include good photo composition, panoramic photography, computer imaging, the use of Adobe Photoshop and how to design a good photograph. Some lecture will be involved, but most of the classroom time will be spent in individual instruction on how to manipulate images. At the end of the program students will reflect on and draw their own conclusions regarding the creative process and their own unique abilities. Student’s work will be displayed for parents and guests at a final gathering. They will also produce a CD of their work to take home.
This program is offered twice. Please indicate your first choice. You may only attend one week.
B-W professor Paul Jacklitch is the program director.
